In his recent exhibition Actress at Europa Gallery in New York, Morris showcased a series of “Ghost Dresses” – sculptures that re-imagine garments without bodies. Crafted from green-tinted resin over fiberglass, these dresses appear as liquid, undulating figures frozen in mid-motion. The designs are inspired by Victorian children's wear, with shrunken shoulders and accentuated waistlines, evoking a sense of presence in absence. This work prompts contemplation on the function and form of dressmaking.

Tissu Expansé features five new Ghost Dresses produced while the artist was in residence in Paris. It marks his first solo exhibition in France. This new group of sculptures extends his ongoing material investigations– instead of shaping the garments around mannequins, he uses air as a structuring force. Each sewn form is coated in resin, then inflated. Through this process, Morris continues his exploration of the boundary between fashion and sculpture, transforming familiar materials into spectral forms that suggest both elegance and unease.

Brandon Morris (b. 2000, San Diego, CA) lives and works in New York. He studied at Parsons School of Design, where he began applying techniques from fashion construction to his work. Morris explores the transformative potential of everyday materials, inviting contemplation on the boundaries between art, fashion, and identity. His practice focuses on what he calls “the object of the clothing” itself, treating the dress as autonomous. His work often features grotesque yet elegant structures that challenge traditional perceptions of art and fashion.

Morris's recent solo exhibitions include Actress at EUROPA (New York), Cathedral Junkie at Pangée (Montréal) in 2024, and Cats Live in Loneliness then Die like Falling Rain at Gern En Regalia (New York) in 2022. He has also exhibited at the Dr. M. T. Geoffrey Yeh Art Gallery at St. John's University (Queens, NY), Storage Art Gallery (New York), and NADA Exhibition Space (New York). His work has been shown at Esther New York, Material Fair (Mexico City), and NADA New York, where it received a mention in The New York Times. Morris has been featured in Vogue, ArtNews, Artnet, and Colossal. Morris is also a recent recipient of the Mid Atlantic Arts Grant. Morris is currently working on his first museum show upcoming at the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, CT.
